My father is diagnosed with type 2 diabetes and hb1ac is 7.8 and c peptide is less than 0.05 ng/ml. How to treat it? Is it type 1or type 2 diabetes?

Dear Lybrate-user you haven't mentioned your father's age. Low c peptide indicates that the body is unable to produce any insulin. Type 1 is unlikely in him but he cud be having lada which is also called as type 1 /2 diabetes. He will require small doses of insulin at present. Please do an ultrasound abdomen to look for any pancreatic causes also.
