Although times may vary from patient to patient, Lasik is usually a very quick and precise procedure. In most cases, the procedure is done within an hour or so. Usually, a single eye can take about 15 to 30 minutes although most of the time is taken in preparation itself. Once the procedure is done, the patients can go home quickly and can resume normal daily activities within a day.

While Lasik can be done in most ages, it is advisable to undergo this procedure after the eye growth has stabilized and the vision problems are stable. This will allow for the corrective measures to take effect properly and not cause further problems due to changes in the cornea in the future. It is advisable to undergo Lasik after 18 or 21 as different doctors prescribe different ages to carry out the procedure. It is advisable that you consult your doctor to ascertain which time is best for you.

There are many hormonal changes that your body may go through during pregnancy, and thus it may end up affecting the shape of your cornea.
