What are the most common causes of poor sperm density?
1 of 5
Poor sperm density is one of the main causes of male infertility. Sperm density is measured by millions of sperm per millimetre of sperm. The normal range is between 15 to 200 million sperms per mL of sperm or less than 40 millions of sperm per ejaculation. This can be due to many causes including excessive smoking, obesity, and sedentary lifestyle. As one of the first steps of investigating male infertility, sperm anlaysis should be done to assess sperm density.
What are some ways to improve sperm density?
2 of 5
Improving lifestyle overall is one of the simplest and most effective ways to improve sperm density. Smoking has many harmful effects on the body, and poor sperm count is one of them. While masturbation per se is not harmful, too many ejaculations may reduce sperm count. A healthy lifestyle including diet and exercise with no detrimental habits is beneficial in many ways, and a better sex life is just one of them.
Poor sperm density is related to masturbation.
3 of 5
Excessive masturbation has been shown to have a correlation with poor sperm density. While the quality of sperm per se may not be poor, too many ejaculations dilutes the amount of sperm with each ejaculation, and therefore density is affected. This could be a cause for infertility, with fewer sperms per millililter of sperm.
Tip: Indulge in actual sex instead of masturbation and see the sperm density improve.
Stress levels are related to poor sperm density
4 of 5
Stress has multiple harmful effects on the body, and poor sperm density is one of them. In addition, it also leads to erectile dysfunction and higher blood pressure levels, both of which can add to male infertility. Managing stress levels, through meditation and other modes of relaxation, can help improve sex life overall and manage male infertility. Manage stress with what suits you exercise, music, meditation, etc., and see your overall sex life improve.

One of the main reasons for male infertility is poor sperm density. Both sperm quality and quantity can cause male infertility, and the main cause for issues related to quantity is poor sperm density. This is, of course, assuming that there are no issues with erection and sperm quality. Male infertility, though not easily admitted and tested, could be one of the reasons for a couple s inability to conceive and should be explored through a sperm analysis.
