The two techniques of urostomy are ileal conduit and ureterostomy. In ileal conduit a small part of the intestine, the ileum, is cut and connected to the outside of the body and the other end of the cut ileum is connected to the two ureters to collect urine. The opening made on the abdomen where the ileal conduit opens is called stoma which drains the urine into an attached pouch. Ureterostomy is the procedure wherein the two ureters are directly connected to the abdomen and two different stomas are formed to collect the urine.
