Adolescent fatigue shows up with very generic and vague symptoms. The teenager could be complaining of headaches that cannot be attributed to a specific cause, digestive issues which are vague, and inability to get a sound sleep. They may have slept physically but their mind does not switch off, which doesn't give a refreshed feeling. Girls might also have problems with menstruation, as they are newly beginning to discover how to handle their monthly cycles. If these symptoms are seen regularly, spend time talking to the teenager. The answer is both true and false to some extent but mostly true as it does exist and is universally acknowledged. Also, it can be managed and passes away with time, as the anxiety of growing up settles down as well as the teenager learns to adapt. Teenage is a period of a growth spurt. Their bodies are growing, their thoughts and ideas expand to politics and science, their emotions are growing, etc. On one hand, this growth process is exciting, on the other hand, it leaves them overwhelmed and drained both physically and emotionally. Added to this, there are a lot of things to do, which never seem to get done. So, if you see your teenager suddenly sleeping more than what they are used to, relax, and take it easy. They will get over it. Inculcating healthy habits and monitoring their lives, while not getting intrusive, can help them prioritize and focus energies on the important things.
