Babies can enter the world either through vaginal or C-section delivery, but the ultimate goal of the delivery should be to give birth to a mentally and physically healthy child. In some instances, Caesarean sections are required to be planned due to some medical reasons which may make the vaginal birth risky. It is essential to consult with your gynaecologist who can guide you to choose the method of delivery.

If a woman is expecting twins or triplets or has high blood pressure or blood sugar, then she may have to undergo a C-section. If the woman is affected by an infection such as HIV or herpes, or issues with the placenta, then it is better to go for C-section delivery in order to prevent the passing of infection from the mother to the child. The gynaecologist may also recommend C-section if the baby is comparatively larger than what the woman's pelvis can accommodate. Although both normal and C-section birth have their own advantages, sometimes C-section is more preferable.
At times, the decision to perform C-section is absolutely unplanned.

It is true that at times, the obstetrician chooses to perform C-section without prior planning for emergency conditions which can put the mother or the child or both at stake. This can take place for a grace issue arising towards the end of pregnancy or when the woman is in labour or if the baby is not getting enough oxygen. If you have previous complications in vaginal delivery, it is advisable to consider C-section delivery with your present pregnancy.
There are no risks associated with C-section delivery.

Even though C-section delivery is generally considered safe, there are conditions in which C-sections can be riskier compared to vaginal birth. It is one of the major surgeries that a woman would undergo in her entire life, and at times it is considered too dangerous or difficult. Also, most women agree that giving birth without any surgical interventions feels more natural than going through C-sections. A woman who undergoes C-section is at a higher risk of having repeat Caesarean sections for subsequent pregnancies.
Babies born through normal vaginal delivery are less likely to have complications in breathing.

When a baby is born through vaginal delivery, the mother can have more early contact with the baby and start breastfeeding sooner. The muscles which are involved in the process of giving birth would squeeze out the fluid in the lungs of the newborn which would eliminate all types of breathing problems. Since they pass through their mothers' birth canal, they are more likely to have good immune system along with boosted intestinal tract. Vaginal birth is regarded as safe and life-saving and also help in steering clear of complications at birth.
