Caesarean Or Normal Delivery - Which Is Better?

Babies can enter the world either through vaginal or C-section delivery, but the ultimate goal of the delivery should be to give birth to a mentally and physically healthy child. In some instances, Caesarean sections are required to be planned due to some medical reasons which may make the vaginal birth risky. Even though C-section delivery is generally considered safe, there are conditions in which C-sections can be riskier compared to vaginal birth. A woman who undergoes C-section is at a higher risk of having repeat Caesarean sections for subsequent pregnancies.

If the woman is affected by an infection such as HIV or herpes, or issues with the placenta, then it is better to go for C-section delivery in order to prevent the passing of infection from the mother to the child. The gynaecologist may also recommend C-section if the baby is comparatively larger than what the woman's pelvis can accommodate. Although both normal and C-section birth have their own advantages, sometimes C-section is more preferable.

When a baby is born through vaginal delivery, the mother can have more early contact with the baby and start breastfeeding sooner. The muscles which are involved in the process of giving birth would squeeze out the fluid in the lungs of the newborn which would eliminate all types of breathing problems. Since they pass through their mothers' birth canal, they are more likely to have good immune system along with boosted intestinal tract. Vaginal birth is regarded as safe and life-saving and also help in steering clear of complications at birth.
