Pancreaticoduodenectomy is a surgical procedure most often used to remove the tumor from the pancreas. Esophagectomy is the surgical removal of all or part of the esophagus. Nissen fundoplication is an open gastrointestinal surgical procedure used to treat patients who suffer from gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD). This procedure is performed via laparoscopic surgery to strengthen the lower esophageal sphincter. The upper part of the stomach (fundus) is wrapped around the lower end of the esophagus and stitched in place. This reinforces the closing function of the lower esophageal sphincter.

Roux-en-Y anastomosis is one of the most common procedures for weight loss surgery. It is a gastric bypass surgery which reduces the size of the stomach, limiting its capacity to hold the food.
