As a rule, rhinoplasty is performed under general anesthesia, and not local, which means that the patients are sedated completely using either oral or intravenous methods. Putting the patients under general anesthesia is important not only for the surgeon as well as for the patient as well, as there is minimal discomfort and pain this way. In case of exceptions, patients may be allowed to get a nose job under local anesthesia, but that is generally hassling for both the surgeon and the patient.
