Ecovin 500mg Tablet

This tablet is an antifungal medication used to cure fungal infections of the hair, skin and nails. The oral tablet is available both as a generic and brand name medication in all pharmacies. The liquid suspension however, is only available as a generic drug. This tablet works by not only preventing the fungal infection from spreading to new cells but also arrests the infection causing fungus from multiplying.

The common side effects that come with taking this drug include skin rashes, nausea, heartburn, diarrhea, dizziness, clouded thoughts, headache, signs of insomnia and numbness in various parts of the body. This tablet inhibits fungal cell wall division by disrupting the mitotic spindle structure and also interferes with DNA production. It binds to keratin present in human skin and provides temporary resistance to fungal infections.

• Interaction with Alcohol

  Ethanol

  Avoid or minimize the use of alcohol while taking this medicine. Any side effects experienced should be reported to the doctor on priority.

• Interaction with Medicine

  Ketoconazole

  Report the use of either of the medicine to the doctor. The risk of adverse effects is higher when these medicines are used together. Your doctor may determine the best course of treatment in such cases.

  Warfarin

  Report the use of either of the medicine to the doctor. Your doctor may advise certain specific blood test to determine the right dose. Suitable dose adjustment and frequent monitoring is advised if these medicines are to be used together.

  Ethinyl Estradiol

  Report the use of ethinyl estradiol or any other hormonal medicine to the doctor. The effect of the hormonal preparations may get reduced and result in failure of contraception. Your doctor may determine the best course of treatment after accessing the condition.

  Atorvastatin

  Report the use of either of the medicine to the doctor. You may require a dose adjustment and more frequent monitoring while using these medicines together.

  Sildenafil

  Report the use of either of the medicine to the doctor. The efficacy of sildenafil may reduce while using it together with griseofulvin. Your doctor may prescribe an alternate medicine or make suitable dose adjustment to ensure safe and effective use of these medicines.
