This capsule in used in treatment for neurotic pain, shingles, seizures and fibromyalgia. It cures diabetic nerve pain, epilepsy, spinal cord injury, restless leg syndrome and generalised anxiety disorder. It works by binding to a certain region of the brain and reducing the pain signals sent out by the damaged nerves of the body.

The capsule acts as a cofactor for enzyme methionine synthase, which transfers methyl groups for the regeneration of methionine from homocysteine. In anemia, it increases blood cell production by promoting nucleic acid synthesis in the bone marrow and by promoting maturation and division of erythrocytes. It also binds to the voltage-gated calcium channels in the central nervous system. This causes a reduced release of neurotransmitters like serotonin, dopamine, substance P thus slowing down nerve signals.
