About Rozavel F Tablet

This is a combination medication which has Fenofibrate and Rosuvastatin as active ingredients. It can help to reduce ‘bad’ cholesterol and fats such as LDL and triglycerides. An accumulation of such fats can cause the thickening of arteries known as atherosclerosis. It helps to increase the number of enzymes in the body that help to break down excess fats that have been deposited over time.

You shouldn’t take this medication if you suffer from liver, gall bladder or kidney disease. If you’re allergic to it or are breastfeeding, it must not be prescribed. Alert your doctor if you have diabetes or a thyroid disorder.

It is important to take this medication exactly as it has been prescribed by your doctor. It is to be taken in combination with a regulated diet, exercise, and lifestyle. If you take cholestyramine, colesevelam, or colestipol, take it either 4-5 hours before you take this medication or 1 hour after it.

    How does this medication work?

This medication is a class of drug known as a fibrate. It is mainly used for treating cholesterol level for people at risk of developing cardiovascular disease. It works by stimulating lipoprotein lipase and decreasing the formation of apoprotein C-III which in turn leads to the reduction of low-density cholesterol and very low-density cholesterol, triglyceride levels and an increase in high-density lipoprotein. Rosuvastatin increases the number of hepatic LDL receptors on the cell-surface, enhancing uptake and catabolism of LDL and it inhibits the hepatic synthesis of VLDL, thereby reducing the total number of VLDL and LDL particles.
