Urine BS and BP, is also known as ‘total bile pigments’ and ‘bile salt tests’. It is mainly performed to measure the level of bile salts and urobilinogen from a sample of random urine. The main objective of this test is to detect jaundice, pruritus in pregnancy, and various liver disorders. Generally, urobilinogen is found in low concentration but a higher value of urobilinogen in the sample urine indicates malfunctioning of the liver. The primary requirement here is the sample of urine. The patient needs to urinate and then their urine samples are sent to the laboratory for testing. Based on those reports, a doctor would decide the further course of treatment.
