12 Tips on How to overcome depression

Depression is a very common mental disorder that mainly affects the way of thinking, feeling, and emotions of an individual. A depressed person feels empty and unhappy even without any reason and loses interest in all the fun activities such as sports, friends gathering, and sex. 

Although it may occur only once in a lifetime, still some people face several episodes that may lead to suicidal thinking. 

A depressed person requires long-term treatment with the best psychiatrist, good friends, a healthy environment, and a good listener who can listen to him to give the best advice, and help him overcome this disorder.

How to overcome depression

Eat healthily

Like you, your brain also needs some nutrients to work properly. As you know, Vitamins and minerals keep your brain healthy, which makes the famous saying 'a proper diet keeps you healthy, wealthy, and wise' true. So, take a proper diet that is rich in Vitamin A, B, C, and D, such as Carrots, Fish Oil,  Eggs, Fish, Milk, Cereals, Minerals, Grains, Fruits, and Green Vegetables. 

Sleep Properly -

Sleeping disorders increase the risk of depression. Make a routine and sleep at least 8/9 hours a day. Take an actual power nap of 10/20 minutes in a day as it regulates your emotions. 

Avoid Alcohol -

Sometimes, when we feel lonely or stressed, we think that alcohol is the only solution to sleep peacefully. You are not wrong; it does induce sleep, but slowly it works as a poison and leads to depression. So, Avoid alcohol, it is a depressant. 

Exercise Regularly -

During exercise, your body releases endorphins that interact with brain receptors and relieve stress. So, You should exercise daily, Exercise keeps your mind fresh and prevents you from many health-related disorders.

Spend more time with good friends - 

Time spent with friends and family keeps you away from overthinking.Have you ever noticed that introverts have a high risk of getting depressed? It happens because they don't share their problems with anyone. On the other hand, an extrovert has fewer chances to be depressed because they don't sit alone and spend their free time with their friends. So, make plans to go outside, breathe deeply, and say, 'I am blessed.'. 

Be Active -

According to research related to mental health, being active keeps you away from depression and mental tiredness. Go to an open area like a park or garden then do some aerobic activities like dancing, jogging, and swimming because they reduce anxiety

Avoid overthinking -

Whenever you feel free and overthink just distract your mind and do some physical activities or something that makes you happy. Stop thinking about what if. Such as What if I failed the examination? What if I get rejected in an interview etc? Instead of thinking about this tell yourself that if I fail I will learn if I lose something, I will find better. I have the capabilities to win. 

Control your anger and be kind -

Being kind is one of the best solutions for your mental health. Avoid being angry as much as you can and don't take any decisions during this situation. If someone behaves badly to you, just calm your mind and before saying anything to him think properly am I right? Should I say something or not?  Be kind to everyone whether they are good to you or not. Good behavior can change your enemy into a good friend. 

Reading Books -

Reading book is the best habit of all. While gaining your knowledge reading also helps to decrease your blood pressure, improves your sleeping quality, and improves overall skills as well. 

Do what you love -

Do whatever you like to do, it is the best way to stay happy. What we love we enjoy, and when we enjoy our brain releases endorphins that keep us stress-free. If you are working and not enjoying the work then no need to stay there, you should change your work/job and do whatever you like to do. because mental health is more important than anything else in the world.

Go where you find peace -

Make a plan to go outside with your friends and family where you find peace and accept your mistakes, accept yourself in anyways because no one is perfect in this world. 

Medications and psychotherapy -

Psychotherapy is used to treat mental illness and helps to improve emotions and the way of thinking. When depression goes worst, your psychiatrist suggests you take medications and psychotherapy with physical activities.  According to research, Psychotherapy is better than medications.

Do whatever makes you happy, Sleep well, and drink plenty of water.
