Asexual are people who experience no sexual attraction towards another.

Sexual attraction biologically means to have a physical  attraction towards another. And I want to have sex with them.

For Asexual people code name is ace of aces, these people  never experience sexual attraction and may or may not want to have sexual relationship with another.

Meaning of asexual is different for different people. There are different types of attraction at different levels like for example demisexual which comes under Asexual. This person experiences sexual attraction when there is a deep connection.

There is no attraction physically but only through long loving romantic relationships. Some people do not feel attraction but still want to have a sexual relationship.

There are many other types of attraction which are experienced by Asexual people.

  • Romantic attraction: want to have a romantic relationship with another.
  • Aesthetic attraction: it is based on the appearance of a person.
  • Sensual or physical attraction: body attraction is here and touching is the cause.
  • Platonic attraction: here some want to be like a friend.
  • Emotional attraction:  emotional attachment is necessary.

There are many other forms of different types of attraction.

Asexual people have different sex drives and experiences.

  • Libido- it is a process in the body known as sex drive, it increases the want of sex, it's experience. Many asexual people feel itchy. It is the natural way of the body.
  • Sexual desire- this is psychological desire to have sex, personal connection.
  • Sexual attraction- is body attraction and psychological desire to have sex with somebody.

People around the world have low libido and  low sexual desire but they have sexual attraction. Asexual people do not experience sexual attraction but libido may be there, mainly psychological attraction is not here.

Though Asexual people do not have sexual attraction but there are many reason for having sex-

  • When there is an increase in libido they satisfy it.
  • To have children in their family.
  • Want to make their partner happy.
  • To see the physical sex experience.
  • To feel the sensation of cuddling, touch.

Many people have shifted in their sexual desire. One  time they experience sexual attraction strongly but after a few weeks they lose their attraction. There are fluctuations in their sexual attraction.

Many people experience them as bisexual or heterosexual but they are Asexual. They find it out later. This doesn't mean they are cheating on you or something  confused. Later they get normalized.

Myths and misconceptions

There are many myths around Asexual

  • Many people in this world see asexuality as a thing in celibacy or abstinence. Abstinence  is a decision of not having sex with anybody. This many be temporary and many choose to have abstinence for few reason: a) they do not want to have sex until they get married. They might be facing a difficult phase of their life.
  • Celibacy is abstaining but for a longer time or lifetime. They do not get married for many regions like religious, cultural or vows taken. There is difference in abstinence or celibacy and asexuality, in later one there is no choice. Both can experience the sexual experience but celibacy for life time may not have another to experience but self service is there.

Medical condition

Many people in the world think that asexual people are people with something wrong. People know that the whole world experiences sexual attraction so they question why some people do not have sexual attraction.  They might need medical attention to cure this. But asexuality doesn't need medical concern. It can be treated. There are many thing which need medical attention if caught with normal people which Asexual people doesn't need are-

  1. There is fear in some people of losing a partner because of intimacy.
  2. Normal people might lose libido, which needs medical attention.
  3. Sexual dysfunction is common in normal people.
  4. Sexual repression due to depression of other condition need medical attention
  5. There may be sexual aversion.

These all can happen  with any person; there is no point of sexuality.

There is no specific test to figure it out but you can ask some questions to know that. If you find an answer and do it, getting aligned with the character of asexual means you are asexual person.

  2. To see whether there is sexual attraction in myself or not?
  3. When there is a concept of sex how do I behave?
  4. To see whether there is sexual attraction in yourself genuine or on demand of others, expectations or On society pressure.
  5. What is the importance of sex for me?
  6. When we see attractive people do we feel like having sex with them or not?
  7. Do when we show affection there is sex factor in it or not?

There is no specific answer to all questions but it can refer us or guide us to see our sexuality.
