In today’s world where heart problems are so common, it is important to take the best possible measures to avoid them. Staying physically active can be a part of your plan to keep your heart healthy. Note that, exercise plays a vital role in controlling or lowering heart problems. It aids in maintaining good blood circulation. Also, it improves your energy levels, maintains your pressure, cholesterol and weight.

Now you know that exercising is beneficial for keeping your heart in a good shape. But another important factor that you must consider is, doing the right exercises in the right amount is necessary too.

Duration of exercising

  • For anyone who is not active, 20 to 30 minutes of fitness session for at least four times a week will be sufficient.

  • People who are already physically active, for them more exercise time is recommended, to make sure their body stays in good shape.

  • Additionally, the amount of exercise you can do also depends upon your stamina.

Exercises for heart diseases:

  • Cardio exercises

  • Aerobics

  • Strength training

  • Jogging

  • Brisk walking

  • Yoga can also be beneficial for those who have had heart attack or cardiac arrest.

  • It also helps in reducing emotional stress and maintaining a healthy lifestyle.

  • It can help improve respiratory function, increase heart rate, boost circulation, lower blood pressure, increase lung capacity, and tone your muscles up.

Here are a few effective yoga postures for you:

  • Extended Triangle Pose (utthita trikona)

  • Feathered Peacock Pose (pinca mayura)

  • Handstand (adho mukha vrksasana)

  • Boat Pose (Paripurna Navasana)

  • Hero Pose (veer-AHS-anna)

  • Supported Headstand (salamba alamba sirsa)

  • Low Lunges

However, do not start practicing these exercises on your own, first check with your doctor and seek help from a professional physical fitness trainer or yoga instructor for the best results.
