Cyclone Ockhi - Heavy Rain Disrupts Life In Kerala & Tamil Nadu!

Cyclone Ockhi, originated from the depression in the Bay of Bengal on 30 Nov 2017, which turned into a cyclone storm. Torrential rains in Kerala and Tamil Nadu has disrupted life in most of the places. So far, the cyclone has claimed a total of eight lives in Kerala and Tamil Nadu and 22 fishermen are still missing in Kanyakumari. The Govt. has set up 16 rehabilitation centers which are currently sheltering 1044 people. Cyclone Ockhi has intensified into a Severe Cyclone storm and presently, Lakshadweep is on high alert as the storm is likely to hit the region by 2 Dec.
Safety measures one should follow during cyclone
- Stay indoors.
- Turn off all electricity, gas and water and unplug all appliances.
- Fill buckets with water in case the water supply becomes restricted.
- Keep yourself fully covered by wearing sturdy clothing and shoes.
- Keep basic medical supplies ready, so as to address any minor cuts and bruises as they can turn into infections.
