Eat Healthy For A Speedy Recovery After A Heart Attack

Every year thousands of people out there suffer from a heart attack. It is natural for a person who has suffered from such a fatal condition to feel stressed, weak both mentally and physically. And, recovering from the condition can take a significant amount of time. However, a healthy diet can be a great step towards a speedy recovery. Even studies have shown that it helps in managing blood pressure, blood sugar and cholesterol for heart patients.

Here's what you should eat:

  • Include plenty of vegetables and fresh fruits in your diet plan.
  • Eat whole grains like cereal, rice etc.
  • Go for lean meat and limit processed meats, including sausages, and deli meats, for example salami.
  • Two to three servings of fish and seafood weekly can be eaten. 
  • Don’t forget to include legumes in your diet plan.  Eat at least two servings a week.
  • Eat about six eggs on weekly basis.
  • Eat low-fat dairy products.
  • Choose healthy cooking oils which could include olive oil, safflower oil, soybean oil, and sunflower oil
  • Have nuts in a moderate quantity. 
  • Drink water in adequate amount everyday.

Foods you must avoid: 

  • Avoid eating processed food items.
  • Avoid eating high in salt foods.
  • Avoid sugary and canned drinks. 
  • Avoid high in cholesterol foods.
  • Avoid tobacco intake and alcohol consumption.

Paying attention on what you eat and avoiding those harmful food items, is the best approach suggested by doctors and dieticians for a healthy heart. These steps can cut down or at least prevent the risk of suffering from another heart attack. So, start eating healthy from today itself.
