Breastfeeding - Know Advantages Of It!

I am Dr. Mukta Rayate, Gynaecologist. I am practising since 18 years. Today I will talk about exclusive breastfeeding. It means that baby should be given only mother's milk during first 4-6 months. Baby should not be given other things like honey, glucose water, juices, animal and powder milk. Breast milk provide all the nutrients to the baby like carbohydrates, fats, protein, vitamins and minerals to meet nutritional and developmental growth of the baby. It also has some protective factors. baby can be fed even if mother is menstruating or ill. So, how breast milk is helpful? Breast milk prevents the baby from diarrhea and other any infection or problem. After delivery mother secrets a yellowish thicky substance. That is very rich in protein, vitamin A & K which is very important for the baby. This is so important that it gives lifelong immunity to the baby.
What are the advantages of exclusive breast milk? It is available in the right quantity and at the right time. It is easily digestable by the baby and it is hygienic. It prevents baby from any of the infection. It also prevents allergies. First fore milk comes. It is watery and fat content is very less. It satisfies the thirst of the baby. It also satisfies the hunger of the baby. The baby grows healthy and sleeps well. One more entity is preterm milk. This milk is very rich in protective factor, vitamins and helps in early development of premature baby. For initial 2-3 days it is very important to put the baby on breast. As long as baby sucks, more breast milk secrets. So, apply the baby to breast as much as possible. Whenever baby cries, baby should be applied to the breast. As long as this process is done, it is helpful to have mature milk from 3-4 days. Parents should believe in exclusive breast feeding. That will help is growing the baby, sharp memory and long-lasting immunity.
