Periods, also known as menstruation, is the discharge of the blood through the vagina from the inner lining of the uterus. Periods occur due to the changes of the hormones. The period starts in between the ages of 12 to 15 years. When the period comes for the first time in the girls then it is called menarche. The period occurs every month between 21-30 days from the last menstrual cycle. Most of the women have their period on or after the 28th day of the last menstrual cycle. The normal period lasts for 5-7 days. During the periods, most of the girls experience mood swings, feeling of tiredness, tender breasts, irritability, cramps etc. Period or menstrual cycle leads to pain in the stomach which lasts for the first 3 days of the period. Sometimes the periods are delayed. The causes of the delayed period can be being overweight, pregnancy, using the contraceptive pill, loss in weight etc.

The home remedies for delaying the period are as follows:

  • Juice made up of lemon:- Juice made using the lemon is considered as highly acidic. It is said that citrus fruits help in preventing the bleeding. So, in order to delay the period, you can try the lemon juice. This remedy is not considered effective in case of every girl
  • Apple cider vinegar:- Apple cider vinegar is considered the effective home remedy for delaying the period. A mixture of apple cider vinegar and water is made. After making this mixture, you can drink it. Drinking this mixture may help some people in delaying the period. But this mixture is not considered effective in every case
  • Gelatin:- Gelatin is considered as the best home remedy for delaying the period. You can mix gelatin in the warm water and drink it a day before your period is going to start. It can prevent your period from beginning for a few hours. But this remedy can't stop the period for a long time. Drinking a large amount of gelatin can also lead to some aftereffects. These aftereffects can also be harmful to some girls. So, first consult the doctor and then only use gelatin 
  • Gram lentils:- Gram lentils are also considered effective for delaying the period. Firstly, you must grind the lentils then grind and make them into a fine powder. You can also purchase gram lentils directly from the market. Mix the powder with the soup or any smoothie. After mixing it, you can consume it. Gram lentils can delay your period from some hours to a day of your expected period date. It is also safe to consume the gram lentils as they don't have any side effects 
  • Exercise:- Exercise is also responsible for delaying the period. If you're a fitness freak and you are engaged in physical activity, then it can lead to delayed periods. Due to the exercise, the energy becomes low. When the energy of the body is low, then they don't have any energy left to attain a menstrual cycle. This leads to the delayed period
  • Mustard seeds:- Mustard seeds can also lead to the delayed period. You can mix the seeds of mustard in the milk or water and then drink it before a night. Drinking this mixture can lead to the delayed period
  • Multani mitti:- Multani mitti is also considered effective in delaying the period. You can mix the multani mitti in a cup of warm water and drink it daily before a week of the expected date of your period. If you drink it regularly for a week, then it will automatically lead to delayed periods.
