Juice It Up - 4 Reasons Why You Must Drink Them!
If you ever consult a dietician, one of the things you are sure to hear is a suggestion to include more fruits and vegetables in your diet. Fruits and vegetables are rich in fiber, vitamins and minerals while being low in fats and hence should account for up to 70% of your daily diet. However, eating more fruits and vegetables isn’t necessarily a very appetizing thought. This is where juicing comes in. Juices make these food types more appealing and easy to consume.
Here are few advantages of adding fresh juices to your diet.
- Low calorie intake: Juices have negligible fats and very low calorific value. Making a juice of mixed vegetable and fruits further lowers the calorific value while pure vegetable juices have the lowest calories in them. When it comes to juices, there is no hard and fast rue about what can and cannot be added to a juice. You can even add proteins in the form of peanut butter, flaxseeds, greek yogurt or almond milk to make your juice more balanced.
- Weight loss aids: As mentioned above juices have a very low calorific value. However, drinking a glass of juice can keep you satiated for a long time. Thus juices help reduce the urge to snack between meals and also curb your appetite. This helps practice portion control and keeps you from overeating. The less you eat, the less your calorie intake will be and in turn the less weight you will gain.
- Boosts your immune system: It is known fact that fruits are rich in anti-oxidants and vitamins that strengthen the immune system. It is also a known fact that raw foods have a higher nutrient value as compared to cooked foods. Juicing allows you to consume all the nutrients in their raw form and thus boosts your immunity while simultaneously energizing you. This is because when your body receives adequate nutrition, the pH level is optimized and more energy is produced.
- It allows you to give your body more nutrients: When you eat a raw fruit or vegetable, you are limited to a certain amount before you feel full. This is because the fiber in the fruits and vegetables fills up your stomach. However, when you drink juices, a lot of the fiber is removed. Thus, where you could eat only 2 oranges, you can now drink the juice of over 4 oranges. Thus, your body receives more nutrition.
