Laser Hair Reduction Process

Hi this is Sandesh Gupta the owner of Skin and Laser Centre. Today we will discuss about Laser hair reduction. Laser hair reduction is a process by which the problem of unwanted hair on the face and other body parts can be resolved. It requires two sessions of Laser hair procedures and we can get the reduction or removal of these hairs almost permanently. Now how does the diode system works. How this machine does works? The laser machine it produces a beam of highly concentrated light. This emitted light is well absorbed by the pigment located in the hair follicles. These lasers vaporize these pigments and by this we disable the hair follicles and significantly impede the hair root.

Now the question comes is it painful usually laser hair removal is not painful because every Laser hair has a cooling tips where temperature goes to the zero degree centigrade which allows significant cooling on the skin before any shot of the laser come and this makes the procedure almost painless but during the treatment there might be slight tingling or stinging Sensation which can be easily tolerated then in few cases if pain tendency is more we can apply topical anesthesia procedure. Another question comes How many sessions are required show the number of session varies Depending on the patient's hair thickness or density And area to be treated and in few cases if PCOS or any hormonal changes are there, hormonal disturbances are there The number of sitting varies. Usually 8 to 10 sessions are generally recommended. But few cases it can go up to 15 cases and in few cases the PCS comes thyroid problems come or any other hormonal abnormalities are there so we have to give more and more number of sessions even after 15 sections.

In few cases what happens patchy growth or fine hairs they come after the 15 goes so they may require further maintenance sitting after interval of 3 to 4 months now another question comes does it work on grey hair? The answer is no because laser energies attract the melanin in the hair the greater the amount of melanin the better are results. White or gray hair doesn't contain any melanin therefore it does not respond to any laser treatment whether it is ND YAG or whether it is a diode laser or it’s a pill. Some patients ask do I need to grow hair for the treatment. No In fact we ask you we shave the area where you want to be treated. Lasers actually targets the anatomical structures below the skin. And this surface here actually interferes with the process.

Another question comes in how many sittings will I see the results? So we say that from the very first session there will be no growth for several weeks. Therefore you will be receiving immediate relief while you are moving towards the long term solution. As the number of sessions are increasing you will get more and more time of the non-hairy skin.
