Low Back Pain - Should Know!

Chronic and acute low back pain is a common problem which occurs in 80% young and old people. Low back pain outcome from damage to structures in the back such as muscles, ligament, disc, nerves and bone. Back pain commonly occurs following relatively simple movement such as bending forward or twisting through the spine. Low back pain can also occur through more complex and forceful movement of lower spine. 
Low back pain is experienced as pain from the lower back. This is often dull or strong ache, which is made worse by movement. Pain may be central in the back, to one side or on both sides of the spine. It may also radiates down into the buttocks, back of the thigh or lower leg.
Low back pain is usually aggravates by activity, particularly activities that involve extension or arching of the back, so you shouldn't continue with activities which aggravate your pain by making it worse.
Diagnosis and treatment of back pain becomes important to prevent long term dysfunction and pain. 80% patients after being diagnosed can be treated with simple exercises and rehabilitation programmes. Back pain recovery usually takes place in a number of weeks. However, in some cases, this period may be long.
The treatment for low back pain is to avoid activities which aggravate your pain by making it worse such as forward bending, gymnastics, dance, rowing, weightlifting or twisting the spine.
Activity modification, medication, spinal traction, electrotherapy treatment, or taping of the lower back may be helpful in your low back pain recovery.
When your pain has settled sufficiently, the sports medicine physician or sport's physiotherapist will be able to provide you with a series of stretching and strengthening exercises designed to return you to your normal life and sport activity.
