Management Of Submucous Fibroid
Dr. Ajay AggarwalGynaecologist • 20 Years Exp.MBBS, MD - Obstetrtics & Gynaecology, Fellowship in Laparoscopy, DNB (Obstetrics and Gynecology)
A submucous fibroid is a cause of infertility, heavy bleeding, and pain during menses. Hysteroscopic removal of fibroid is needed to improve symptoms and fertility. Most of the patients conceive on their own after removal of submucosal fibroid by hysteroscopy. The traditional approach is the usage of the resectoscope, but it has a slight issue of damage to nearby endometrium which may compromise future fertility. But we prefer the removal of fibroid using a plain scissor, hence endometrium (inner lining of the uterus) is not damaged at all and helps in planning future pregnancy giving the best results.
