PCOD - Know More About It!
What is PCOD?
An extremely common condition among women of a reproductive age group during the present times is the PCOS or polycystic ovarian syndrome.
As the name indicates, multiple cysts form in the ovary, which does not rupture during ovulation and consequently leads to a hormonal imbalance. If left untreated, the patient can develop serious health problems like diabetes and heart diseases.
Symptoms:
The patient may present with acne, irregular or absent periods, obesity, increased growth of body hair due to secretion of male sex hormone, thinning of hair, infertility, and depression. The symptoms, however, can vary from person to person.
Diagnosis:
Early diagnosis and treatment can help control symptoms and thereby prevent long-term complications. Diagnosis is made with the help of a series of hormonal tests (increased LH and decreased FSH) and ultrasound imaging. In most cases, ultrasound imaging alone is sufficient to confirm the diagnosis.
Management:
The management has to be a multipronged one to bring about a quick and complete recovery. It is of utmost importance to lose weight in patients who are overweight and lead a more active lifestyle.
Homeopathy is a system that treats an individual as an entire unit and provides relief to the patient by striving to eradicate the root cause and does not just look at the hormones and ovaries. This is aided by the availability of a huge collection of medicines prepared from purely natural substances using a special method that brings out the medicinal effect of the natural substances and renders it safe for administration at a very minimal dose without any side effects whatsoever.
