Hello friends,

I am Doctor Archana Gupta, Gynaecologist and practicing in East Delhi for 17 years. I am seeing nowadays PCOD is a very common problem in young girls so aaj main aapko uske bare mein kuch batein batana chahti hoon and jisse ki aap logon ko uske baare mein jankari ho. PCOD basically it's a lifestyle disorder, the reason is not known, it may be genetic and there is a multi cyst inside the ovary and we term this as polycystic ovarian disease.

The reason as I already told you it may be genetic, it may be hormonal basically its a hormonal disorder, ismein hormones ke changes hone se jo female ke body mein changes hote hain usse infertility tak affect hoti hain. Nowadays it is very common in young girls 15 years onwards.

To patient yadi aata hai hamare pass ki mujhe menses ki irregularity ho rahi hai ya menses kabhi kam aate hain, kabhi jyada aate hain ya 2 periods ke beech mein irregular bleeding ho rahi hai to hamen immediately patient ko check karna chahiye, hume sabse pahle uska weight check karna chahiye aur uske baad uske liye investigation karana chahiye, blood test karana chahiye, ultrasound karana chahiye aur jo iske symptoms hote hain usmein main jo hota hai irregular periods, infertility, weight gain, increased insulin level, sometimes blood pressure, diabetes and loss of hair on the scalp and excessive hair growth all over the body because of the increase male hormones.

So these are the symptoms and treatment depends on the age of the patient. We have to check the weight at right time because increased fat means increased weight it contributes certain increase of the hormonal level inside the body, so first and foremost thing is, check the weight when we check the weight symptoms may be reversible and patient may be comfortable. Her hormonal level will be managed by the weight management and infertility part is managed by the artificial induction and medication and irregular menses managed by the birth control pills.

So this is the most important thing, we should control the weight of the patient at the right time and explain to her lifestyle, this is my sharing with all the patients.

Thank you.
