Reduce The Risk Of Stomach Cancer With These Foods!

Eating a balanced diet with the right amount of calories, protein, vitamins and minerals will boost your immunity. It can also protect you against many diseases such as obesitydiabetes and even some types of cancer. Stomach cancer is among one of those few cancers that can be prevented with certain foods.

Foods that reduce the risk of stomach cancer:

  • Carrots: Carrots are good source of carotene, a form of Vitamin A. Eating carrots daily, reduces the risk of stomach cancer by up to 26%.
  • Citrus Fruits: Citrus fruits such as oranges, amla, and lemon, are a good source of Vitamin C. It acts as an antioxidant and boosts immunity. Three servings of these fruits per week can reduce your risk of stomach cancer by 28%.
  • Cruciferous vegetables: Cruciferous vegetables such as cabbagecauliflower and broccoli are known to be a good source of folate and Vitamin K. Adding these vegetables to your salad or in your meal will reduce the risk of cancer.
  • Mushrooms: Mushrooms contain essential amino acids and are also rich in vitamins. Having mushrooms can reduce the risk of cancer. Also, they are known to stop the growth of cancer cells and lower the side effects of cancer treatment.
  • TurmericYou might be surprised to know that having turmeric can reduce, as well as prevent the growth of cancer cells. Turmeric contains an active ingredient, curcumin, which reduces gastric secretion and inhibits the tumor growth.

These foods may help in preventing the risk of stomach cancer, but it is advised to consult your doctor, whether you can have these foods or not.

How to plan your diet?

Planning a diet, when you have gastric disorder can be a little difficult. As you might experience, cramps, nauseabloating and diarrhea. To avoid these, you can do the following things:

  • Eat smaller meals five to six times a day.

  • Eat protein at every meal.

  • Limit your intake of high fiber foods like whole grains, brown rice.

  • Avoid sweets and sugars, in form of cakes, candies, juices and cold drinks.

  • Wait for 30 to 60 minutes after a meal before drinking fluids.

  • Say no to alcohol.

However, it is important for you to eat right and frequently, as this helps in treatment and after recovery.
