Preliminary of Rhinoplasty Surgery
If you have decided to go for the nose job, then your doctor will carry some preliminaries of the surgery. Firstly, your doctor will study the structure of the nose. You will have to get an X-ray of the nose where the doctor can examine the bone and nostril structure. The doctor may also look into your medical history to determine the conditions interfering with the surgery.
How is Rhinoplasty Done?
Rhinoplasty is executed by the doctor under general anaesthesia. They numb the nose and the surrounding area so that you do not feel any pain. A small incision is made in the nose through nostrils. If the re-shaping of the nose bones is required, then the incision is made at the base of the nose. The bones are reshaped by cartilage method.
The main aim of Rhinoplasty is to give pleasant shape to the nose. This is done by correcting the inner bone of the nose.
After Surgery
After the surgery, your doctor will give your nose splint to wear. It is required to be worn for a week. You will also be swollen and bruised around the nose. For this, doctors prescribe some ointments and medication that will recover the swelling and bruises with time. Generally, the patient can have a fully normal nose in six months. However, you are suggested to follow the doctor’s instructions strictly.
Doctors may also ask you to apply some ice on the area around the nose so that swelling can disappear soon. Straining and stressful acts should be avoided for 4-6 weeks of recovery.
