White Specks In My Poop - What Can Possibly Cause It?

White specks in poop can cause due to various things in adults and toddlers. Some causes might be serious and some might be minor ones. White Specks are small undigested food particles, can be caused by certain medications. Here are a few reasons to cause white specks in poop.

What causes White Specks in Poop?

Various reasons can lead to undigested food in stool, it can be undigested food, medication of some health problem, malabsorption, and more.

  1. Undigested food: The main reason for the white speck is undigested food. Many times it is difficult to digest food like nuts, seeds, high fiber vegetables, or corn. This food moves in your digestion track without digesting and this may cause white specks. Symptoms for this can be diarrhea, abdominal pain.
  2. Malabsorption: This is also caused due to indigestion of food. And due to this, you can have white specks in your food. Due to several times malabsorption, your area may get bulkier and pale throughout and this will be because of higher fat content. For These symptoms are liver disease, pancreatic insufficiency, intestinal inflammation. Other symptoms for the malabsorption are diarrhea, abdominal pain, weight loss, fatigue, etc.
  3. Celiac disease: Celiac disease is caused due to the autoimmune disease and this is because of the abnormal immune response to the protein gluten. Due to protein gluten, you can have severe inflammation in the digestive system and this will reduce the intestine's ability to digest or absorb the nutrients properly. And this may cause you significant nutrient malabsorption and lead to white specks in stool. Symptoms for this are diarrhea, weight loss, bloating, fatigue, abdominal pain, etc.
  4. Medications: Many medications can cause white specks in the poop. And especially those come from the capsule. Many people cannot digest the capsule properly and this may lead to the capsule medications. In this case, you may see small white balls in your poop. Then consult the doctor immediately and let them decide if there is a need to switch your medication. If you experience fever, nausea, or abdominal pain then also you should tell the doctor. It will be helpful to the doctor and they can exactly tell you about your health.
  5. Parasites: As there are many parasites and different parasites may cause white specks in your poop. Tapeworm segments will appear as large, white and patches will have patches. Symptoms for this can be nausea, weakness, diarrhea, abdominal pain, weight loss, fatigue. Also, you may have pinworms. Pinworms are white in colour and they lay eggs near your area. Symptoms for this are strong itching, rash, and uncomfortable feel near your area. In some cases, you may have abdominal pain too.
