I am Dr. Sandeep Talwar. In today's time, More and more people are delaying their families because of work pressures or lifestyle changes and delayed marriages. So, marriage is not so important for them. Hence, there is a need to preserve your fertility and fertility can be preserved by preserving your eggs. A lot of girls are going for egg freezing and this can only be done when you are in your fertile period say between 25-40 years of age.
After the quality of the eggs gets deteriorated. So, in case the woman decides to delay her pregnancy then eggs can be taken out and retrieved outside. These eggs at the later date can be fertilized with the partner semen, embryos can be firmed. The embryo which is firmed can be transferred in the later date. This option gives you a chance to become a mother with your own eggs and not using the donor egg which is not a very good option and it is not acceptable in a lot of women. They would like to have a child who is genetically theirs. Hence, egg freezing is very common in the method of ART.
