About Kidney Stone Diet
A kidney stone is a hard object that is made from chemicals in the urine. Urine has various wastes dissolved in it. When there is too much waste in too little liquid, crystals begin to form. The crystals attract other elements and join together to form a solid that will get larger unless it is passed out of the body in the urine.
Usually, these chemicals are eliminated in the urine by the body's master chemist: the kidney. In most people, having enough liquid washes them out or other chemicals in urine stop a stone from forming. The stone-forming chemicals are calcium, oxalate, urate, cystine, xanthine, and phosphate. According to the type of stone, it is important to manage the diet to avoid complications.
If you have kidney stones, you may need to follow a special diet plan. Sometimes following a special diet plan may be enough to prevent you from forming more kidney stones. Other times, medications, in addition to a special diet plan, may be needed. Some doctors recommend the DASH Diet.
Please note that not all dietary recommendations benefit all types of stone formers. Talk with your doctor to find out what diet is right for you. You may be asked to make changes to the amount of salt (sodium), calcium, oxalate, protein, citrate, potassium and fluid in your diet. A registered dietitian can help you with making these changes.
We create a 7-Day diet chart for kidney stone patients in this diet plan, we include food items which exclude calcium oxalate. Also, include lots of juices such as coconut water and pomegranate juice. We also listed out meal timing for of a complete diet.
