Food Items To Limit

  2. Sugar : Foods such as cupcakes, cookies and ice cream are made with sugars that can trigger your body to produce more insulin. Concentrated sugar foods should be avoided.
  3. Beverages : Fruit juices, alcohol and caffeine should all be avoided to prevent a hypoglycemic attack. Caffeine should be avoided due to the caffeine magnifying the symptoms of hypoglycemia.

Do's And Dont's

Do's & Don'ts:

  1. Be prepared : Keep a source of pure glucose, such as glucose tablets or liquid, on you, in your diabetes emergency supplies, or in places where you spend a lot of time.
  2. Do not ignore mild symptoms : The quicker and earlier you take action, the more likely it is that you’ll avert a more serious low blood glucose reaction.
  3. Try not to panic : If you feel anxious, try to pause and think clearly about what to do.
  4. Do not overcorrect : Start with about 15 grams of carbohydrate. If you need more carbohydrate after 15 minutes, then use another 15 grams of carbohydrate.
  5. 15-Grams Guide : 1 tablespoon of sugar or honey, 3-4 glucose tablets, 1 cup, or 8 ounces, of milk
  6. After you bring your blood glucose level to 70 mg/dl or above, and your next meal is more than an hour away, you should eat a snack to prevent a recurrence.
