The cause for this symptom to appear is improper management of thyroid hormone level. The emotional content of a person can be altered if he/she experiences rapid changes in the thyroid hormone level. In this symptom, a person might feel irritability. He/she might experience a feeling of annoyance which is brought about due to either little or no provocation. It is normal for a person to feel agitated due to work-related stress but experiencing regular agitation is a sign of imbalanced thyroid hormone. Proper treatment of hyperthyroidism can lower this symptom being experienced by a person.
anxiety
If a person has been diagnosed with hyperthyroidism then it is a great possibility that it might one of the prime causes of anxiety in that person. One of the most likely effects of hyperthyroidism is anxiety. Due to overactive thyroid, the metabolic activity of a body is speeded up which results in experiencing the feeling of anxiety. A person suffering from anxiety may live in a persistent fear of everyday situation.
tremors
If a person is suffering from the condition of hyperthyroidism then his/her metabolic balance of the body gets affected. this leads to an increase in the production of the energy in the cells of the body. This excessive production of energy can lead to nervous stimuli become excessive, which results in a person feeling tremors. In this symptom, the person might experience shaking in hands and legs. An exaggerated version of a person suffering from tremors is that a person might not be able to carry a vessel filled with fluid as due to tremors the liquid might spill out. This condition gets treated as soon as the treatment for hyperthyroidism starts.
weight loss despite an increased appetite,
Patients that have an overactive thyroid gland experience weight loss despite an increase in the appetite. The severity of weight loss is dependent on how overactive the thyroid gland is. BMR gets enhanced which results in the body requiring more calories in order to maintain a healthy weight. If a person does not effectively replace the calories burned with calories consumed then the weight loss would continue to happen. This condition can be overturned if proper management of the thyroid hormone can be done.
sweating
If a person is sweating without even exerting himself/herself to any physical activity then it may be due to an overactive thyroid gland. An overactive thyroid gland increases the metabolic rate of the body which further leads to a person feeling more warm than usual. Night sweats can also be associated with the condition of the overactive thyroid gland. This symptom can be overturned with the proper management of the hyperthyroidism condition.
rapid heart rate
Most of the signs and symptoms which are experienced by a person is due to hyperthyroidism. An overactive thyroid can have a direct impact on the heart. An increase in the thyroid hormone levels leads to increased palpitations or rapid heartbeat. The changes that are brought about in the heart are due to thyroid hormone affecting the nervous system which controls the heart of a person. In person suffering from hyperthyroidism, a heart rate of 90 beats per minute even while resting or sleeping is common.
intolerance to heat
Hyperthyroidism is a condition which occurs when the thyroid gland is producing excess of thyroxine. This excessive production of thyroxine leads to an increase in the metabolic rate of the body, which further results in a rise in body temperature. A person suffering from the condition of hyperthyroidism might not be able to tolerate the heat. The delicate balance between hot and cold which is maintained by the body gets hampered. This leads to increased production in sweat.
frequent bowel movements
One of the most common symptoms of hyperthyroidism is having frequent bowel movements. An overactive thyroid not only speeds up the metabolic rate of the body but it also speeds up the process of digestion. This leads to a person experiencing the symptom of frequent bowel movement. A person suffering from hyperthyroidism might defecate more often than usual. This symptom gets alleviated after the treatment of the hyperthyroidism.
