Symptoms Of Neuropathy: First Signs When You Might Be Having Neuropathy

Last Updated: Jul 17, 2020

The burning sensation felt in the body specifically in the feet that later spread in the other parts of the body and causes a tingling sensation in the hands and the finger is known by the term neuropathy. The condition may lead to imbalance and lack of concentration or a complete distraction and loss of control. Symptoms of Neuropathy are as follows:

Sharp pains or cramps

The cramps occur in the muscles which initially starts as slow sensation and gradually becomes extreme. They lock the movement of the hands and feet and also causes sharp pain in the bones, at the same time restricting the movement of the body. The pain increases and leads to abnormal response as sense organs do not get proper signals to respond.

Increased sensitivity to touch

The touch sensitivity increases with the increased effect of the illness. Even the weight of the cloth also becomes unbearable for some individuals. The sensation of air also makes the body react abnormally. The body becomes too sensitive to everything.

Muscle weakness

The muscles become weak which leads to tremors or a feeling of shakiness. The weakness is felt after the damage of the motor nerves. This causes a loss of control on the movement and hence the body and muscles feel weak.

Loss of reflexes, especially in the ankle

The body becomes senseless and hence the reflex action does not work properly, leading to loss of reflexes specifically in the ankle. The feelings of touch or any sensation in the ankle are not recognised by the nerves and hence no signal reaches the brain to react or give any action for the reflex.

Loss of balance and coordination

The body becomes so weak that it is unable to coordinate with all the parts of the body. The sensation of losing balance can be felt every time. Due to this, a person may fall down and injure himself/herself.

Serious foot problems

The feet become numb and any infection caused in the feet due to allergic reactions or illness cannot be sensed by the nervous system. Thus, it will not heal which will lead to ulcers and the problem may spread over the bone and the joints which leads to cause serious foot problems, such as ulcers, infections, and bone and joint pain
