A salmon is one of the most highly allergenic fish species. A salmon allergy is an adverse reaction by the body’s immune system to foods containing salmon or salmon. The body’s immune system produces IgE antibody and histamine in response to contact with the allergen. The symptoms that can result from a salmon allergy can vary considerably among the patient right from severe headaches, eczema, abdominal symptoms, asthma to anaphylactic reaction. IgE test – In this method, a blood sample is collected from the patient’s body by injecting a needle. The blood is collected in a tube and is sent to a laboratory for examination of the presence of IgE antibodies to protein from the fish being tested. A salmon allergen is added to the blood to find out the result.
