I believe in the fundamental medical doctrine of 'Primum non nocere' (First, do no harm) and initially use conservative treatment options (physiotherapy, injections, medication) to treat painful conditions. Majority of non-traumatic orthopaedic conditions can be effectively managed in this way. However, i also understands that when these conservative options stop working and quality of life is adversely affected, precise and timely surgical intervention is necessary to restore mobility and function. I use a 'shared decision making' approach, wherein there is involvement of patient at every level.
