What are the causes of anal fistula? Do they repeat after clearing also? I already undergone surgery but it looks like again fistula on the other side of anus.

Yes fistula is caused by infected anal glangs once occurs it cured by surgery only but may reoccur then repeated surgery is to be done sometimes it is intractable

1.Fistula is a chronic abnormal communication between anal canal and peri anal skin. 2.It occurs due to non healing of Ano rectal abscess and spread of infection to peri anal skin. 3. There is an External Opening in perianal skin and internal opening in anal canal. 4.Diagnosis- Proctoscopy/sigmoidoscopy. 5.Treatment of fistula-Fistulectomy under G.A. 6.Symptoms- chronic discharge of pus/blood/stool from the external opening, Itching, pain while passing stool, Constipation 7. Consult a good anorectal surgeon for advice and treatment.
