My sugar level has gone up to 230 (post lunch) what should I do to bring it down. I am under medication& doing 1 hr. Brisk walking almost every day. Pls suggest.

Walking is good but also control your diet. Avoid sugar, jagary,honey, sweets,sweet fruits like banana, mangoe,grapes, cheeku,dates etc and follow instructions of your physician regarding medicines.

Mr. lybrate-user, Thanks for the query. Blood glucose level of 230 mg after food, is fairly high. Ideally it should be maintained between 150 to 160 mg and HbA1c%<7. It appears that your current medication is mostly a bit inadequate. Secondly a close look has to be given to present diet as well as exercise. Please also check FBG & HbA1c% and come back, then I will be able get a clear idea. Also let me know current treatment details. In the mean time avoid sweets, deep fried food, junk foods, pastries, bakery items and foods made out of maida. Increase the intake of green leafy vegetables, salads and permitted fruits. Avoid alcohol and smoking. Thanks.
