Dear lybrate-user it's depends on hearing loss and how much she benefits with the hearing aid. There are hearing aids and cochlear implants are available for the severe to profound loss also. Since the age is 18 it is difficult to achieve speech in this age. Usually it's easy to improve speech in younger age. If at all you go for hearing aid or implant which will make them aware of the sound but it will not improve the speech understanding and speaking much at this age. My advice is go go for hearing aid and go for listening training to improve the awareness of the sound.
