I am having diabetes for last 20 years. I am having kidney problem since last year. Following are some of out of range value from my blood report. Cholesterol - HDL 47.2 mg/dl Glucose - Fasting 57.0 Urea 110.0 Creatinine 2.93 Blood Urea Nitrogen (BUN) 51.4 Can you please let me know further course of action. I am having constant pain in walking (can do slow walk only), keep forgetting things, swelling in some body parts, less desire to eat, difficulty in speaking.

Hello, Thanks for the query. Diabetes in the long run does affect kidney very badly, particularly if the glucose levels are not well controlled. That is what seems to have been the case. High urea, and creatinine 2.93 mg signify reduced kidney function. Primary need is to achieve a strict blood glucose control with FBG <100 mg, Pp 150 to 170 mg & HbA1c% <6.8. You have not mentioned PP glucose values as well as HbA1c%, so difficult to comment. It is better to consult a local physician early. Thanks.
