What is liver bending. Why is it required. Why is it repeated. Is there any permanent solution for avoiding this?

Banding is a procedure performed for esophageal varices and not in the liver. The esophageal varices develop as a complication of liver cirrhosis (liver disease). Varices are basically dilated vessels in the esophagus (usually lower 1/3rd) which if very dilated, may burst and cause uncontrollable bleeding due to the immense pressure of blood within them. Banding takes care of these dilated vessels and may even prove to be life saving. Bleeding varices are a dreaded and fatal complication of cirrhosis of liver (liver disease).
