I am 34 weeks pregnant with twins babies. Yesterday my doctor told me to take dexamethasone injections 12 mg in 12 hours gap x 3 doses for lungs maturity of babies. I have heard that dexamethasone injections are steroid injections and can effect the brain development of unborn baby and can cause behavioural problem and anxiety in the child in future life. So I am scared in taking this injections so can anyone tell me the truth about this injections. Waiting for the reply.

It is better to take these injections for lung maturity as in twins premature delivery is common and if that happens lack of lung maturity causes big problems to babies. Doctor prescribing always weighs advantages against disadvantages before advising. In trying to avoid disadvantages you miss out on advantages.
