Hello, Thanks for the query. A diabetic lady can get pregnant and deliver a healthy baby. However there are a few precautions that need to be taken-1) Achieve a strict blood glucose control with fasting < 100 mg, PP 150 to 160 mg & HbA1c% <6.8 from now on. During pregnancy it is essential to maintain blood glucose between 90 to 120 mg all throughout the day. If not then fetal growth is affected. High blood glucose can lead to large babies and causing difficulty in delivery. High glucose in early pregnancy affects organ development in fetus. It is better to use Insulin injections during the gestation period. Before getting pregnant and during pregnancy you will have to get your eyes checked for possible retinal problems Eyes should be periodically checked during pregnancy. All this means is taht you will have to have a very regulated lifestyle to have a healthy baby. Thanks.
