Due to my parents ignorance my right sided unilateral cryptorchidism was not treated in childhood. I am 19 years old and the doctors are telling it's already late to treat it in this stage. What steps should I follow now? Can I get rid off fertility issues and become a father? Am I in the high risk of testicular cancer? N. B: Some doctors directly suggesting to remove it, some are saying if possible it can be preserved but only for cosmetic purpose.

The testis requires to be a little cooler than the rest of the body for being able to produce sperms (the reason why it is physiologically placed in the scrotum). Now since the testis was inside your body in your developmental age, it is not possible for the testis to produce sperms anymore. You can however become a father even with 1 testis. Please Do not worry about it or be furious about it with your parents. Please see a good doctor who can help you out with this.
