Hi Dr. Everywhere is saying after a certain window period time (3 months) after getting negative is conclusive & even after (6 months) confirmation is definitely negative. But why are all these other people saying you can go years without showing positive & that's really freaking me out big time. Is it true that it takes your to come up positive or does it only take 6 months to know 100%. What's true? One doctor say in medical no test 100%. I am still 17 months post exposure 4th generation test negative. What is the truth.

Hi. Window period varries from 45 to 90 days. If test is performed within this period there are chances that the report will come negative. Beyond this period if tested that will show positive or negative depending on the status of HIV infection is present or not. But if not tested even patient is positive then there can be no symptoms visible even after years depending on the immune system of the patient. Or may be visible soon and this will also depends on the immune system. Hope it's clear. For detailed information you can come via the online consultation section. Thanks.
