Hi lybrate-user, thanks for asking. Laparoscopic Appendectomy has this advantage over Open Appendectomy that patients do recover faster. So if you are getting operated Laparoscopically, you will be discharged in 2 days and with a month's rest at home you can join work. If your appendix is adherent and a Laparoscopic procedure cannot be performed then an Open Appendectomy will be done. For discharge only, it will take 5-6 days approx. And you do have to rest at home for nearly 2 months.
