My son is 13 months old. Recently one of his cousins had mantoux test positive. He used to play with that child who is also one year old. Her rest tests like chest X-ray and swab test are pending. Though she has loss of appetite and failure to thrive. I want to know whether my son needs tests too? He is otherwise symptomless. No cough fever weight loss etc. No adult in family has Tb. Which tests my son needs as a local doctor has suggested us that tuberculin test results can be false positive cause of vaccine and since he has no symptoms he doesn't need skin test but only CBC.

There are many causes for false positive tuberculin test including previous BCG vaccination. Childhood tuberculosis is transmitted from an infected adult but not a child.
