My niece is just three days old and yesterday she started crying badly and when we took her to the medical to consult the doc, he kept her light .her body was turning out to light yellowish. Blood platelets count has come down from. 17 to 16 according to the report. We suspected jaundice. We r worried. Can you please advise on this and what steps they should take to recover back to normal.

Well jaundice in a newly born is very common to appear from 3rd day and it remains there in rising trend as well reached to peak at 7 to 8 days of age. Which later regresses to decline after 2nd to 3rd week of age .provided you are under constant supervision it doesn't cause much problems .unless it reaches about laboratory level of 18 or above. Your doctor shall advise some test for your baby like s.bilirubin, blood group, g6PD and NBS which you shall carry on.
