I am 30 weeks pregnant, my random blood sugar was 162, after a week of strict diet n walking my FBS is 114 and PPBS is 128, my gyno suggest me to consult an endocrinologist for insulin intake, Please suggest me if I need to take insulin or control in my diet Thanks.

Lybrate-user ji, Thanks for the query. You seem to have gestational diabetes. Please get an OGTT (Oral Glucose Tolerance Test) done, to confirm. It is necessary to maintain blood glucose between 90 to 120 mg through out the day during gestational period. So you do need Insulin. Therefore please consult a local diabetologist and start the therapy. Or come in a private conversation with results of OGTT, then I will be able to advise. It is absolutely essential to achieve strict glucose control for the benefit of the fetus and for expected outcome of pregnancy. Thanks.
