Hi my uncle is a alcoholic and we gave him Dizone for the last 2 weeks and now he does not want to drink he has quit drinking and he is doing well. Just wondering when should we stop giving him Dizone?

Dizone 250 mg Tablet blocks the chemical which breaks the converted form of alcohol in the body. This leads to an increased level of converted form of alcohol in the body causing bad physical features while drinking alcohol.Take this medicine in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor. If it is stopped he may again drink and he needs to exercise good willpower to stop drinking

Dear Pam, I hope Dixone is Disulfiram tablet. Disulfiram and alcohol interaction gives unpleasant feeling and morbid fear. That is why your uncle is not drinking since he is not getting any good feeling with alcohol. If you stop Disulfiram, he will start enjoying alcohol and become dependent within few days by increasing the alcohol intake. So DO NOT STOP Disulfiram unless you want him to drink on an occasion. Disulfiram needs to be stopped 10 days earlier to make him enjoy alcohol.
